An Intimate Voyage

This is an utterly inspiring documentary reviewing the birth and rise of techno, a music genre we have all grown up loving. In this video, we are blessed with a perspective of a pioneer – the highly acclaimed French DJ Laurent Garnier. Back in February of 2011, the techno music community in Thailand was gifted with a visit by the legendary baron himself at the now-defunct Bed Supperclub, Bangkok.

This documentary features unseen images and exclusive footage of the latest Laurent’s world tour. You will uncover a remarkably intimate and personal portrait of a truly passionate artist. He followed his love, against all odds, and contributed majorly to a musical, social and political revolution. If we know underground music today as it is – this man is partially to blame.

The cast features the Man With The Red Face himself and special appearances of Carl Cox, Pedro Winter, Jeff Mills, Modeselektor, The Black Madonna, Matthieu Chedid, Abd al Malik, Jack Lang, Peggy Gou, DJ Pierre, Seth Troxler, Manu Le Malin, Kerri Chandler and Richie Hawtin.

In other words, Off the Record is just an amazing chronicle of the rise of techno, through Garnier’s memoirs, which includes his journey since Manchester’s unforgettable Hacienda. Yes, that very same immortalised venue considered the birthplace of acid house. It remains one of the world’s most fabled nightclubs long after going extinct.
