Artist Interview – Nakara

We meet Nakara, as part of our ‘Kao Na’ artist interview series.

9 is a lucky number in Thailand. 9 also means forward stepping or progress. Kao Na or 9 forward.

1.) First things first, what is your favourite Thai meal?
Pad Krapao Moo (Stir Fried Pork with Basil Leaves).

2.) Tell us more about you.
My name is Nakara Nakaphavet, born 19th March, 1986. I am a music and football lover. My favourite football team is Tottenham Hotspurs. I love an alternative lifestyle and traveling. Now, I am a DJ and a producer in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

3.) How did you start DJing?
When I was 17 years old, a friend of mine opened in Bangkok. It was called Mike Club (I know, the name is horrible, hahaha!). She (my friend) knew I love music, so she invited me be a DJ at her venue. So I said, “why not”. That was the first place where I learned to DJ. My friend’s partner, Kon, was my first teacher.

I still remember his words to me. He said “You can do whatever you love. Music is not the answer. Music is not right, music is not wrong. As long as you are happy with your beat, that is good enough!”.

4.) What genres do you play?
Techno
Indie DanceDowntempo, and DnB.

5.) Who or what are your music influences?
Leftfield, Booka Shade, DJ Hype, Red Axes, Ali X x Ximena, and Theus Mago.

6.) Favourite place to party in Thailand?
Jai Thep Festival, Babylon Bar (Chiang Mai)

7.) Are you making your own music? / Do you have any tracks out?
Yes, I do make my own music. I am still not the best out there but I am happy with it. My favourite track is called “MAYA”. It is on my album called “High Acid Kids” and is available on Bandcamp.

8.) What is your all-time favourite track?
Booka Shade – Darko
Booka Shade – Darko

9.) Finally, what are your thoughts on the launch of ozonebeach.club?
I’m lovin’ it.
