Artist Interview – Aneesh Medina
We meet Aneesh Medina, as part of our ‘Kao Na’ artist interview series.
9 is a lucky number in Thailand. 9 also means forward stepping or progress. Kao Na or 9 forward.
1.) First things first, what is your favourite Thai meal?
Moo Krop (Crispy Pork Belly)!
2.) Tell us more about you.
I’ve been in Bangkok for eight years now and have been quite involved in the nightlife scene from the start. I have been lucky to play across various venues out here. I’ve even managed to secure digital marketing spots for clubs like VHS (newly opened) and Mustache Bangkok.
3.) How did you start DJing?
I started during my university time. A DJ school had opened up close to my home in Bangalore, India. My dad got me enrolled in the class, which spanned for three months. The rest is history.
4.) What genres do you play?
Tech House, Afro House, and Techno.
5.) Who or what are your music influences?
Solomun, Tale of Us, Black Coffee, Adriatique, and Pan Pot.
6.) Favourite place to party in Thailand?
Phuket!
7.) Are you making your own music?/Do you have any tracks out?
Not as of now, I am not.
8.) What is your all-time favourite track?
Whilk & Misky – Clap Your Hands (Solomun Remix).
Clap Your Hands (Solomun Remix)
9.) Finally, what are your thoughts on about the launch of ozonebeach.club?
It’s great to see such a unique initiative by people who clearly love the scene here. It’s well overdue that Thailand got its own online radio platform for artists and DJs alike.
